How Google Cloud Platform Works
About Google Cloud Platform
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) provides a full range of scalable, reliable, secure and cost-effective services running from Google’s modern data centers, connected with their super-high-speed worldwide network.
Google Compute Engine (GCE) offers on-demand virtual machine instances. Both Linux and Windows virtual machines are supported. There is also a wide range of network-related services including load balancing, auto-scaling, public and private network configuration, data caching and DNS.
Google App Engine (GAE) offers a cloud hosted sandboxed environment for running applications. When developers use GAE they can focus solely on their code. GAE takes care of provisioning, patches and scaling up or down to meet demand. GAE also supports of number of popular languages including Python, Java, PHP and Go.
Google offers an incredible number of software services that can be integrated into GCP solutions. These services include Search, Maps, Mail, Drive, Prediction API, and Translate just to name a few.
Data Storage Services
Google Cloud Platform offers many storage options, all of which are highly available, durable and inexpensive. These services include Google Cloud Storage, a NoSQL database called Datastore and a relational database service called Cloud SQL.
Big Data Services
Google BigQuery takes advantage of Google’s incredible computing power to allow data analysts and scientists to query massive datasets using the SQL language they already know. These datasets can be Gigabytes, terabytes, and even petabytes in size.
